Provenance and Rights File Format

Why .DAVE Matters

Copyright does not protect outputs.

It protects human authorship expressed through process.

GODBOX, through .DAVE, records the human hand inside the generative workflow.

This makes AI-assisted production copyrightable by design.

What you create on a GODBOX is yours because the system can prove it.

The Role of GODBOX

GODBOX is the production machine.

.DAVE is its legal memory.

Every file created on a GODBOX is born with a provenance and rights record.

This does not promise compliance with every rule.

It makes compliance possible by creating the evidence layer.

Studios, insurers, broadcasters, distributors, and courts do not ask for tools.

They ask for proof.

.DAVE is the proof.

What .DAVE Is

.DAVE is the provenance and rights file format of the BAI-LEY production system.

Every asset created on a GODBOX is paired with a .DAVE sidecar file.

The media stores the content.

The .DAVE stores the authority.

A .DAVE file is a cryptographically verifiable record of:

  • human authorship

  • creative intent

  • decision history

  • chain of custody

  • rights and royalty attribution

From the moment of creation through delivery.

If there is no .DAVE, the asset has no legal memory.

How .DAVE Is Created

.DAVE files are created through the DAVE Agent running on GODBOX.

The user starts a DAVE Capture Session.

From that moment, the system records the production process.

During the session the Agent observes and logs:

  • all user interactions

  • all keyboard input

  • browser activity

  • file creation and modification

  • application usage

  • tool invocations

  • generative model interactions

  • human decisions and approvals

The capture is continuous, time-locked, and tamper-resistant.

When the user ends the session, the Agent compiles the full activity record and generates the required .DAVE sidecar files, written directly alongside their corresponding media assets. The media and the .DAVE are bound. One has no authority without the other.

What .DAVE Records

Each .DAVE file contains a structured, signed record of:

who created the work

when it was created

under what authority

using which tools and models

with what human decisions and intent

how it changed over time

who approved it

who owns it

how rights and royalties are assigned

This record is cryptographically sealed and verifiable.

The result is a production asset with provable authorship.
