Design Studio
Worlds become real when someone designs them.
At BAI-LEY, production design sits at the centre of the filmmaking process. Every environment, prop, and visual element begins with a designer shaping the world of the story. Our studio provides the infrastructure that allows those designs to move from concept to reality with clarity and precision.
Design is not an isolated phase of production.
It is the foundation that informs every department.
Our approach places the production designer in authorship of the film’s visual world.
The BAI-LEY studios art department uses the latest technology and tools to develop environments and objects as detailed digital assets early in pre-production.
These assets function as the modern equivalent of construction drawings, allowing the design to be visualised, refined, and shared across the production team.
From there, the same assets guide the creation of physical props and set elements, support stage production or location work, and provide the foundation for virtual production and visual effects.
Because every department is working from the same design source, productions maintain a consistent visual language from early planning through final delivery.
BAI-LEY operates as a studio environment where production designers and art departments can carry their work through the full production pipeline. Designers originate the visual world. Our technology and infrastructure allows that world to be designed, built, filmed, and extended in new ways using the latest technology.
For producers, this creates new production opportunities and a predictable and efficient process. For designers, it strengthens authorship and ensures the visual identity of the film remains intact from pre-production through completion.
Our Production Design Studio supports:
Design development for characters, environments, props, weapons, costumes, vehicles, sets and stages
Digital asset creation to support visualisation and planning
Fabrication of physical props and set elements from design assets
Integration with stage production, location shooting, or VFX stage environments
Continuity of design assets through post-production and visual effects
The compliant use of machine intelligence to studio and guild standards
Documented human and machine authorship for ethical and legal compliance
Historically, production design studios were integral to filmmaking.
Designers worked closely with stages, workshops, and craftspeople to realise the worlds of a film. Over time those systems fragmented, with departments spread across multiple vendors and locations.
BAI-LEY restores that continuity in a contemporary form. By combining studio infrastructure, digital design tools, and fabrication capability in one environment, we provide a place where production designers can originate and realise their work within a unified production system.
Design remains the starting point.
The world of the film begins with the production designer. Our role is to ensure that world can be built, filmed, and preserved exactly as intended.
